My husband and I were stationed on an Air Force base that was just south of Miami, Florida and the crime rate in Miami was horrible with at least one drive by shooting a day. I don't the entire state of Florida is bad. I'm from the Pacific Northwest and I'm not used to the humidity that Florida has.....but that's because I grew up in the dry climate of Washington State. I have friends who live in Florida who love it there. Sometimes we end up living in places we don't like but if that's the case one can make the best of it by making their own house a happy one. It doesn't matter if a person has a lot of money or a fancy house....what matters is usually in our hearts and having a good outlook on things. Sometimes people create their own H**l no matter where they live.
Hey! Miami is my hometown! I'm a little insulted! Sure we may not be the best, but it's still home and I also believe the town or city you grew up in should also be one's final resting place.
I will always love Miami, FL because I grew up there. Like any large city, there was some crime but I never experienced any in the circles I traveled in. I remember the long walks with friends on hot sunny days. We were nerds and were in constant hunt of books and oldie goldie records. My mother would take me with her all over the city to little shops. She knew where the best of everything was. I later married there and had two beautiful children. I know things have changed and I can never go home again but I still love Miami.
I remember the beach. We would pack a lunch and sit on a blanket under a coconut tree. I love to feel the sand on my bare feet and walk out into the water. The fishing was good in Miami and I was always ready to go catch some. Miami was known for its seafood, which is my favorite type of food. It is also very multicultural now but not so much when I was growing up. For me Miami is mom and home and friends. I love it!
Miami over all is pretty beautiful and there are a lot of fun things to do and the beach is heaven. but EVERYWHERE is crowded with people it really s***s.
Everything stands out it is heaven on earth especially the beach
It's too good because I know many people, it's a state and a city too beautiful and comfortable
I like parks a lot, people all
I love Miami for the diversity. It is annoying sometimes though when people cannot speak English. Overall it is beautiful in Liami for so many different things.
Don't go to Overtown.
I hate Miami, FL. The traffic is always terrible. Everyone speaks Spanish so I can't communicate in English. The violence is of concern. The only other areas that are safe are so expensive and s****y.
The traffic stands out as the worst part of Miami. Any hour of the day has gridlocks and car accidents.
My experience is pretty short, in summer, the streets turn into ovens, the school i went to does not have windows, going out alone at night is a no, way to dangerous, even at day time, someone can just pick you up, throw you in there car and drive away. Or you can just get randomly short at any turn like it happened recently to that rapper.
Humidity makes the air thick and the polution acts as a magnifying glass above our heads.
The good point is that food is exelent and everything is at walking distance.
The worst is how overpriced everything is.
I love this place they have nice beaches and beautiful homes as well.
I love the beaches and the clubs here as well.
My family gave me a tour where they reside and from where they used to live, the crime was bad. They ended up moving 10 minutes away from that area due to the crime and them not knowing it wasn't safe. They confirmed a lot of gangs lived near by and even SWAT had to come out. I enjoyed seeing the palm trees, the weather, and all of the fun spots they have that Cleveland, OH doesn't.
What stood out is the night life and the night life you can have even if you have a family. I went to a couple of casino's that were nice inside and out and I enjoyed seeing spots like a karaoke bar, this really cool bowling alley with good music, food and a hookah bar outside of it. The restaurants were interesting and I would like to try them the next time I come back, the different art stores/museums and Aventura Mall was a lot of fun!
