Crime was manageable, many are on edge to be safe though where I live. School are okay but at the local Valdosta High School, there was a shooting threat with apparently a hit list. The school laughed it off and pretended it didn't happen. The list was apparently targeting LGBTQ+ and ethnic students as relayed to be by a girl who found her own name on the hit list while leaving the school in my third period. I don't feel especially safe in the school and our lack of being able to keep our phones in our back pocket makes it so if something did happen, I might not be able to tell anyone or call the authorities. As an ethnic gay student myself, I watch my back as well as I can but there is a large almost transparent safety ring for LQBTQ and ethnic people. Once you find us, everything becomes much more apparent. Some neighborhoods are okay, as in my neighbors dogs terrorize the neighborhood and rip up trash everywhere, and some are worse, as in once staying over at my friends house, she couldn't tell if a particular noise was a gunshot or a firework. Keep in mind Valdosta is a very Southern state and is very proud of being traditionalist and conservative. Sports are all the rage here, a title town, and acedemics are rarely represented. Though If you hunt fir the right classes in the highschools, you can get good results. Also note, whether youre driving or walking, people will wave to you- even if they dont know you. Good luck!
Some High school classes are good but usually rare and jam packed. Lots of trees and fresh air. Generally kid friendly.
